Yasmin Newman is an Australian-Filipina cookbook author, presenter and culinary director.
Over the last 20 years, Yasmin has lived worldwide, from Paris and Los Angeles to Mexico and the Philippines, exploring different cuisines and cultures.
As a food writer, she has worked for leading Australian media including SBS Food, Delicious and MasterChef and has been featured globally in the likes of National Geographic, Oprah and Vogue.
As an author, she has written three beloved cookbooks, 7000 Islands: A Food Portrait of the Philippines (2013; 2019); The Desserts of New York: And How to Eat Them All (2016) and Under Coconut Skies: Feasts & Stories from the Philippines (2021). She is currently writing her fourth cookbook, to be released 2024.
Yasmin is also Head of Culinary at global meal kit company Marley Spoon, serving around half a million plates of food to Australians each week.
In 2023, her new series A Taste of the Philippines launched on Australian network television station SBS.
She lives on the Central Coast of Australia with her partner and two young kids and returns each year to ‘Julita’, Yasmin’s home away from home named after her lola (grandmother) and located on Siargao Island in the Philippines’ idyllic south.
